Daytrotter.com and new shows

February 26, 2009

Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls,

We went to the Illinois studios of Daytrotter.com and recorded four songs there live, just me, Job and Adam. Now they’re up on the website!

Go to http://www.daytrotter.com to hear some of what we’ve been working on– a band is, after all, always making music (hopefully). It’s goog stuff. YOU HEARD ME, GOOG.

In other news, we have begun to plan our massive attack on American soil. After we go to South-by-Southwest in Austin, Texas in mid-March, we’re going to play a mess of other shows all around the Eastern half of the United States. It’s going to be really goog. We hope you and all your friends and pets and household objects will attend. Go to myspace.com/ezrafurman to see when and where they are… maybe we will come to your town…

See you soon gumshoes!!!

Love Ezra and the rest

Best. Review. Ever.

New Music Video

February 2, 2009

4157-09

Hey Everyone,

Ezra Furman & the Harpoons, with the help of the Great Antoine Wagner, have made a music video for your favorite toe-tapper, “Take Off Your Sunglasses” Shot in Central Park on a cold day last month, it will warm your heart in this February of our discontent.

Watch it at this address:

You can also go to the great director’s website, with lots of amazing things he has made, here:

Stand up and take notice! Good music still exists! It moves, it walks, it thrives!

Love,
Harpooooooooons.

RIP Indie 103.1

January 17, 2009

We are very sorry to say that Indie 103.1 is no longer on the FM airwaves. Boo.  Read about it from Stereogum.

They were so nice to play “Take Off Your Sunglasses” quite regularly, and have us in the studio…its definitely why they aren’t on the air anymore, because they were TOO awesome. Moral of the story: Be mediocre.

Ezra Solo Show!

January 5, 2009

HELLO DISCIPLES! It’s Ezra Furman. Enough chit-chat.

I’m playing a rare and precious solo show in Evanston, next Friday, at SPACE on Chicago Avenue. It’s a great venue and I promise you great songs. It’s me and my guitar and you. That kind of intimacy is something many of you don’t even get in your own bedrooms, much less a concert out on the town. So don’t pass it up! Come to the show.

Here’s the other thing you should know: the tickets are cheaper if you buy them before the day of the show. They’re $12 before-hand, $15 on the day of the show. So waste no time. Buy ’em at http://www.evanstonspace.com. Aw good God I’m a real ad man now. But not in person. In person I am pure songsmith. I will be opening for the unparalleled Chicago gems the Nicholas Tremulis Orchestra. Also, The Sleeptalkers, a new band that I have personally listened to (over and over again in rapture) and deemed amazing, are opening up for me.

SO: 8 pm, Friday Jan 9, tickets online or in person, SPACE in Evanston. Don’t cheat yourself out of greatness. I love you.

SINCERELY
Ezra Furman

PS. There are no other shows on this date!!! If someone tells you that there is one, they are a liar and you should reprimand them.

On The Radio, ah ah.

October 16, 2008

Yes you heard me right. They’ve been playing Ezra Furman & the Harpoons on Chicago’s best radio station, WXRT, 93.1 FM. That is really awesome for me, having listened to it since I was a kid. And you can too! Even if you’re not a kid anymore.

Chicagoans, turn the dial to 93.1 FM and you just might hear some Harpoons action.
Non-Chicagoans, don’t despair! It is online.
You can listen to the first-ever mainstream radio station with the good sense to play our music at www. wxrt. com.
It’s streaming live.

I knew we’d infiltrate the airwaves one day, and today is that day. And it’s only the beginning…
